Using Your Embossing Folders as Stamps

Did you know that  you could use your embossing folders as stamps? Well you can and I am here to show you how.
All you need is a piece of card stock, an embossing  folder, an ink pad and a brayer.

Ink up your brayer by rolling it over your ink pad.  Open the embossing folder and  roll  the brayer over  the raised side of the embossing folder.

Place your piece of card into the folder and close. Then rub really firmly all over the outside of the embossing folder until you think you have enough ink on the card stock.

I love using this technique when I want the design of the embossing folder without the raised effect. Sometimes there is just too much other stuff going on that the raised image would be lost or just be too much.

Here is what I finished with.

Here is a layout I have done using the image I created above.

Embossing

Hi everyone,

Welcome to another Frosted Designs Challenge.

Frosted Designs

There are two differernt types of Embossing - Dry and Wet. Dry is the art of creating a raised image from pushing the paper into a pattern. Wet embossing is the art of creating a raised image using embossing powder and a heat source. Both look fantastic and both have their place in both cards and scrap pages.

For this challenge I chose to use the dry form of embossing.

You will see the pattern of the background paper on this layout is actually embossed. I cut my Cordinations card stock into 6 pieces and then ran each of them through my Big Shot with a brocade embossing folder. And because I used Cordinations card stock I then used sand paper over the raised design to make it stand out more. I think it resulted in a very effective yet subtle background.

I would love to see you play along in this challenge. The prizes are always fantastic. So hop over to Frosted Designs and give it a go.

I hope I have inspired you today to get creative.
Have a scrap happy day.

Narelle

Fussy Cutting

Hi everyone,

Today I have a technique to share with you - Fussy Cutting. What is Fussy Cutting? Well its simply just cutting out designs on patterned paper. It just sounds harder than it is.

You can see in this layout that all the roses down the left have been cut out individually and then layered. They were all cut from the one piece of 12" x 12" piece of patterned paper then arranged on the page. Some were raised using foam dots to give dimension and depth.

It really isn't  a hard technqiue but sometimes when people see some of the terms used in scrapbooking they are overhwelmed and think they can't do it. But like I said this technique is simply cuting and pasting like you did back at school...lol

It is a fun technique and I would love to see you give it a go. If you want to show off what you have done using this technique, then why not pop over to Scrap It With Attitude and enter our current Celebrations and Fussy Cutting Challenge.

I hope today I have introduced you to a new technique and given you the inspiration you need to give it a go.

Happy Scrapping
Cheers,
Narelle
