Frosted Designs - Scallops

Hi everyone,

It is time again for another Frosted Designs Challenge. This one is scallops.
I made a very girly card for this one. As soon as I knew what the theme was, I knew exactly what I was going to make. I have made a similar card before, but with a much different look. I wanted this one to be more feminine. I think I got that bit right...lol

We would love you to join us in this challenge. The prize this time is from SpiegelMom's Scrap Shop.

Here are some more examples of work I have done in the past featuring scallops.

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing  you over at Frosted Designs.

Paper Piecing

Hi everyone,

Today I have a scrap page that has a bit of paper pieceing on it. Paper piecing is the art of layering papers.
If you have a look at the hot air ballons you will see that there are plain colour panels and patterned panels. To achieve this look I stamped the image onto a white card stock to get the solid coloured panels, and stamped it again onto a patterned paper. Then I have cut out the panels that you see on the balloon that are patterned and stuck them onto the original stamped  image.
This is a really fun technique and can give you so many different looks for the one image. Give it a try and see for yourself how much fun it is.

Now I wanted to tell you a little about the subject matter of this layout. This is my son who has started high school this year. He has Aspergers, ADHD and Tourettes. This poor kid has suffered so much through his primary school years because of his conditions, so we were very pleased and hopeful when we managed to secure a place for him in a specialist Autism unit for high school. We thought in the past that he was receiving help but now we know it was sadly lacking. It is only now that he is getting all the help he could possibly want that we are seeing the true potential of what he can achieve. He has been at high school for only 8 weeks and so far has received 5 Merit Certificates and gradings on tests of A's and B's. We always knew he had it in him, he just needed the right environment and assistance to get it out of him. We are so very proud of him and know now that he will be able to reach his full potential - hence the title of this page "The sky is the limit". We know now that he can do whatever it is that he sets his mind to.  And we love him very very much.

Thanks for visiting.

EggsCellent

Wow I can't believe that Easter is next week. Where is this year going?

I can't wait for next week as my parents are coming down from Brisbane during the week. And my Dad is turning 80 on April 2nd. He has already told us he wants to go to The Outback Steakhouse for his birthday...lol. Then they are off to visit relatives down at Narooma, then onto Victoria, South Australia, up the centre of Australia to Ayers Rock then onto Mt Isa to see my brother for his birthday at the end of April. For 80 he is doing quite well I think, being able to drive their motorhome all that way and think nothing of it. It will be nice to have them down for Easter, my kids normally miss out on celebrating special events with them. Not this year!!

Speaking of Easter, over at Scrap It With Attitude we have a new challenge and yes you guessed it, the theme is EASTER.  Here is my Design Team layout. It is of my daughters Easter Hat parade at school last year. It was her last because Yr2 is the last time they participate in this fun event. And I just had to include the photo of her with her best friend as she has now moved interstate and my daughter misses her so much. I love the bright colours in this layout and I hope it gives you a little inspiration some how.

Please come across to Scrap It With Attitude and join our Easter Challenge. We would love to see what you come up with. Its ok if you are not a scrapper, you can make anything as long as it has an Easter theme.

Thanks for visiting.

Frosted Designs - Up, Up & Away Challenge

Hi everyone,

It is time for another Frosted Designs Challenge. This time it is 'Up, Up & Away'. What a fun challenge this will be.
It can be anything you see in the sky.... hot air balloons, kites, planes, clouds, birds, butterflies... You get the idea!
I did a simple bithday card. I layered 3 different patterns papers to give it depth and distressed all edges to make it a bit more grungy. The cloud embossing folder from Stampin' Up! was perfect for giving some character  to the white cardstock the hot air balloon sits on.

This weeks sponsor is Creative Chaos

The prize this fortnight is an altered box filled with various handmade flowers
to the value of $25.00!
So what are you waiting for, head on over to Frosted Designs and give it a go. Make sure you check out what all the other Design Team members have created. You are sure to be inspired.

Want even more inspiration, check out these past items I have made that fit this theme.

Cheers and thanks for stopping by.

Frosted Designs - Chevron

Well hello there.
It is a miserable, grey and rainy day in Sydney today. The second day of Autumn and Summer is definitely a memory now. I really dislike the humid weather and all summer have been counting down to the cooler days, but now I am not so sure.
What is a girl to do in weather like this?? Yep you guessed it - CRAFT!!!! And that is exactly what I intend to do.
But first I have something wonderful to share wth you.

As you know I have been selected as a Designer for Frosted Designs. I am still pinching myself.  Any-whoo, it is time to reveal my first design for them. The challenge is Chevrons. I hope you like what I have done.
